How electicity bills are calculated in this covid 19 lockdown period in Telangana?

  1. In Telangana, they have not taken meter readings from past three months. And they took meter readings for 90 days in this month of June
  2. The total number of units (for 90 days) are divided by 3 months and calculated monthly charges as explained above.
  3. And multiplied those charges with number of months to get total bill.
  4. And whatever amount you paid in last two months will come in adjustments we have to pay the remaining amount.
  5. And any consumption more than 200 units per month will be in higher slab. And bill amount will be more.

How to use electricity bill calculator?

  1. If you want to calculate your bill in this lockdown period, normally the meter readings are taken for 90 days.
  2. Enter your total units and number of months as 3
  3. If you want to calculate your regular monthly bill, normally the meter readings are taken for 30 days.
  4. Enter your total units for 30 days and number of months as 1

The current bills are calculated based upon last three months units data during this lockdown So Please enter 3
(Or verify your old bills by entering number of months as 1 and corresponding total units in that month)

How electricity bills are calculated monthly in Telangana?

Normally any electricity bill calculation will be based upon total number of consumed electicity units and their slabs or categories.

In Telangana, based upon number of electicity units consumptions, slab rates are divided into three categories

The pricing for each consumed unit will differ based upon your category or slab.

Category 1(between – 0to 100)
0-50 Units – ₹1.45 consumer charges : 25₹
51-100 units – ₹ 2.60 consumer charges : 30₹

Category 2(between – 100 to 200)
0-100 Units – ₹3.30 consumer charges : ₹50
101-200 units – ₹ 4.30 consumer charges : 50₹

Category 3(more than 200 units)
0-200 Units – ₹5 consumer charges : ₹60
201-300 units – ₹ 7.20 consumer charges : ₹60
301-400 units – ₹ 8.50 consumer charges : ₹80
401-800 units – ₹ 9 consumer charges : ₹80
Above 800 Units – ₹ 9.5 consumer charges : ₹80

So If your number of units is less than 100 say 95 you fall under category 1 and Your aproximate bill will be 225.2 as shown below

Breaking of Charges
50*1.45=72.5
45*2.60=117
Energy charges = 189.5
Customer charges : 30
Electricity duty charges: 5.7
Final bill :225.2

So If your number of units between 100 to 200 say 150 you fall under category 2 and Your aproximate bill will be 604 as shown below

Breaking of Charges
100 * 3.30=330
50*4.30=215
Energy charges = 545
Customer charges : 50
Electricity duty charges:9
Final bill :604

And finally, If your number of units between is greater than 200 say 450 you fall under category 3 and Your aproximate bill will be 3127 as shown below

200 * 5=1000
100 * 7.20=720
100 * 8.50=850
50*9=450
Energy charges=3020
Customer charges : 80
Electricity duty charges: 27
Final bill :3127

In addition to that you will be charged consumer charges and electricity duty charges.

The consumer charges will be different for each slab as mentioned in above.

Electricity duty charges will be your total number of units multiplied by 6 paise. that is 0.06 Rupees.
